FIXING A MAC G 4 Laptop for my daughter...............

Postby KENNMANN on Thu Dec 07, 2006 5:52 pm

MY daughter's Mac G 4 is out of warranty.. They told us at the Mac store that it may be a broken wire on the input connection for the powercord... She is at college in Harrisonburg, PA. -- J.M.U. I will be there tomorrow evening... Is there anyone who can recommend a very exellent but inexpensive person who can fix this? I will also be looking to have the hard drive removed from the Mac G 4 Laptop I just bought, have the drive erased , so, that my daughter can, if needed, transfer her hard drive info if it is needed when they work on her computer . Please, would appreciate any info whatsoever that may help us to get her computer fixed... plz. e -mail me at PALEO599@YAHOO.COM

G4 Laptop

If the power connection is broken it can be very difficult to fix. The power attaches directly to the main Logic board ( MAC for motherboard) this is pretty much the same with all laptops. If the power cord end itself is broken you can open the end up and solder the wires. I have done this on several G4's. Most G4's I have worked on it was almost always the little white connector on the end of the power cord that was the culprit. As far as the hard drive you can transfer all her info from 1 G4 to the other with a firewire cable and the built in software in Mac OS.
